Priests need little explanation as to what their role is. A master of healing, reviving allies and removing de-buffs. They can shield their comrades, as well as themselves. Not only do they wield the power of Holy Light to keep friends alive and fighting, they can also use these powers to destroy their enemies. Priests can also call upon the powers of Shadow to wreak havoc on the battlefield.

While priests are a cloth wearing class, they make up for that vulnerability through buffs, heals and shields to protect them from harm. As powerful as priests sound, a common question arises on the forums every day. How to level a priest? A cloth class that doesn’t really come out of they are much higher level.

At a low level priests can heal fine, but do not deal as much damage as when they are higher level. The best recommendation on how to level a priest is to level shadow priest. Level shadow priest allows you to deal a lot more damage. Until you are level 40, you can deal decent shadow damage and still heal yourself.

Level 40 shadow priests receive Shadow Form, which will shroud the priest in darkness. One of the coolest looking buffs or forms in the game, in my opinion. Even if you don’t level shadow priest, you can change specs at level 40 to receive this form. Shadow form allows you to deal more shadow damage, while also protecting you from harm. The downside about shadow form if you level as a shadow priest, the inability to heal while in the form….and also the mana cost to leave shadow to heal, then re-enter shadow for DPS.

If you level a priest of a different spec, you can get into instances even easier. Healers are always sought after by groups, as they are REQUIRED just like a tank. If you don’t know how to level a priest in the early levels, healer might be the way to go.
