World of Warcraft:
Level Mage
The Mage, conjurer of fire, ice and the arcane. Leveling my mage was fun at the
higher levels, but the first 40 levels I found to be fairly challenging. Unfortunately there weren’t any good
leveling guides available at the time to assist.
As you level mage, the earlier levels seem to breeze by. NPC’s
don’t even get a chance to lay a hand on you as they are dispatched with ease. But as the levels go up, so does the
difficulty. You can’t kill NPC’s as easily, and sometimes it can be overwhelming if the target cannot be slowed or
rooted in place. Having a friend tag along helps battle this issue, but also having a friend tag along can slow the
leveling process.
Once you level mage to about 40 life becomes easier. Until then, a
leveling guide is extremely important to help you get the easier quests done faster. The faster you level mage, the
better. All of the cool toys become available around 40. And from there a mage leveling guide can help you get to
80 fast, with professions maxed out to boot!
There are guides that offer mage specific leveling, and also level
80 mage PvP. Level 80 mage PvP is a blast! As frost you can frustrate melee, slowing there movement speed to a mere
crawl or rooting them in place while other ranged and melee classes can annihilate them.
The Ultimate Warcraft
Guide
PvP is also viable as arcane. Instant cast invisibility to escape
an enemy or get the jump on another. Level 80 mage PvP as arcane can do some serious damage too if left unattended,
silencing healers and eating through them in a matter of moments with big arcane blast critical.
Then there is the third option, Fire. Fire spec for level 80 mage
PvP is frowned upon by a lot of other players due to the lack of survivability. During the Burning Crusade
expansion, Fire was my favorite spec for battlegrounds. Doing a ton of damage and managing to escape using dragons
breath or a quick sheep spell. But level 80 mage PvP as Fire can be tough. The survivability is far lower than
frost and arcane, and the cast time for fireball and frostfire bolt can be brutal in a fast paced PvP
environment.
Aside from possibly a Shaman, my favorite class so far has been
mage. If you like casters, level mage and you’ll see why I have stuck with this class. And if you have been
frustrated before by a mage in PvP, then you will see why level 80 mage PvP is such a blast (no pun
intended).
Check out some of the guides on the site. Between me and my wife,
we have almost 10 years of Warcraft experience between us, and would not recommend anything that would not benefit
you .
As much time as you spend in the World of Warcraft, it is worth
the investment to purchase a great leveling guide, profession guide, and PvP guide. Some guides offer all of the
above in one big guide, such as Dugi’s Ultimate World of Warcraft Guides. And some others offer just a Horde
leveling guide, or Alliance specific leveling guide. Check the links to the side to read more about these
guides.
