Level Leatherworking / Level Skinning

Leatherworking is pretty self explanatory. You can create items with leather. At higher levels you will also be able to create some Mail items as well, since hunters and shaman start off wearing leather then are able to wear mail gear at level 40.

If you select to level leatherworking, we recommend that you level skinning as your second profession. Leveling skinning will allow you to supply your own materials to level leatherworking. Skinning is another one of those professions (like mining/herbalism) that you can make fast gold with. Leather earned from skinning is needed by many other professions to craft items, so it WILL sell on the auction house.

To train as a Master Leatherworker (300-375) you will need to visit Darmari in Shattrath City. There are also trainers in the starting areas of Hellfire Peninsula in the Outlands for both Alliance and Horde. You can further level skinning and also further level leatherworking by visiting the trainers in Dalaran City.

One of my favorite passive abilities you can get from a gathering skill is the increased critical strike rating that you gain if you level skinning.
