Level Enchanting

Enchanting takes items that you do not want, or simply would not use, and allows you to disenchant them into materials. These materials are then used to enhance other items such as armor and weapons. If you choose to level enchanting, you will also receive the option to disenchant items.

Leveling enchanting can be a costly profession though. Most people will sell the items they find off of monsters or from quests in the auction house or to a vendor in return for gold. But if you are trying to level enchanting, you have to disenchant these items. And guess what you receive in return? A few materials to enchant gear and armor. Doesn’t seem like a great trade, particularly if you were to try and power level enchanting.

Since Wrath of the Lich King though, Inscription has been introduced. Instead of giving away free enchants to people just to try and level enchanting, you can now place the enchant on a scroll and sell it in the auction house. There are different types of scrolls that are all made by Inscriptionists. Mostly armor and weapon scrolls, which I highly recommend using to place your enchants on. This does help you level enchanting, and also make some gold along the way. At higher levels, the better enchants sell for much more. So if you have the materials and need some gold, check the auction house for prices and see how much you can sell that enchant for.

As with my mage, when I was leveling enchanting I would roll greed on all items in dungeons and raids. Some players on servers may ask if anyone is an enchanter, then let the enchanter roll greed on all items, disenchant them all at the end, then everyone rolls on the enchanting materials. I prefer to keep quiet about it, and just roll greed. This gives you a greater chance of getting more blues (or even an epic) to disenchant then use to further level enchanting. Some might be offended by this, but if they have leveled enchanting they would understand….it is not cheap! And you do not make near as much as a miner/herbalist would make.

Enchanters have the bonus of being able to enchant their own rings! A big plus if you manage to level enchanting high enough. Leveling enchanting to either 400 or 405 will give you the ability to add one of the below to each ring:

-23 Spell Power

-40 Attack Power

-30 Stamina

One other way to make some gold from leveling enchanting is to find out which enchants have unique "glows". I found that certain enchants like Fiery Enchant still sell quite well, even though the benefit from it isn’t that great. Why you ask? Because it’s shiny. Well, fiery, but still it has the "glow" effect that people like. Anything that keeps you entertained while leveling I suppose.
