World of Warcraft: Professions
Level Blacksmithing / Level
Mining
If you are looking to level blacksmithing, it is recommended to level
mining as well. If you level mining along with blacksmithing you can save a ton of gold on the materials
necessary to increase your blacksmithing skill.
Level blacksmithing and you will be able to create Mail Armor, and
later Plate Armor. And since you can make some Epic Plate items, it is recommended that plate wearers level
blacksmithing. Of course, you’re not required to just because you wear plate. My Warrior is an Alchemist/Herbalist.
But if anyone would level blacksmithing, it should be a plate wearer. A cloth class like a mage or priest will not
benefit much at all from being a blacksmith since you won’t be able to wear any of the crafted gear while you
level, or at end game.
The Ultimate
Warcraft Guide
Some of the perks you will receive if you level blacksmithing are
the ability to make keys that can unlock lock boxes, similar to rogues. As convenient as the keys can be, they’re
one of the lesser perks. The greatest bonus, in my opinion, is the extra sockets that you can add to your Bracers
and Gloves. Just by leveling Blacksmithing you can have these additional sockets that you can use to increase your
HP, attack power, or spell power. Blacksmiths can also craft the rods needed by enchanters, which you can make a
little extra gold from.
As mentioned earlier, we recommended that you level mining to go
with blacksmithing. But blacksmithing isn’t the only profession that benefits from miners. Enchanters, Engineers,
and Jewelcrafters all need the materials that miners can provide. So not only will you be able to level
blacksmithing much cheaper with mining, but you will also be able to pull in some serious gold selling materials in
the Auction House.

It is also worth mentioning that you have a chance of getting some
nice gems while mining nodes. Most used by Jewelcrafters and some others used for crafting different items in the
World of Warcraft.
Aside from the potential to make a lot of gold farming mining
nodes, the other perk gained if you level mining is a nice Stamina bonus which will increase your health. This
increases in accordance to the level of your mining skill.
