80 Paladin PvP

Level 80 paladin pvp, considered to be one of the most overpowered classes in pvp for a long time running.  With the flexibility of being a healer, tank, or very high burst dps, level 80 paladin pvp can be dominating no matter which spec you prefer.

Let's start out with retribution for our first level 80 paladin pvp spec.  Most paladin pvp guides will recommend retribution if you want to dps, and for good reason. Retribution is a very strong spec for 80 paladin pvp, as it combines VERY high DPS,
good survivability via plate armor and "The Art of War" instant cast flash of light heals, a 15% run increase (which is phenomenal for a melee class), and 2 forms of instant stuns.

If you currently play the world of warcraft, you have run into a well geared retribution paladin before.  And like me, I'm sure you have been stunned.....still stunned....still stunned.....holy crap I'm dead!

One of the most important things regarding 80 paladin pvp is gear.  Get the good gear and you will notice a significant difference on the battlefield.  I recommend running random heroics via the random dungeon tool blizzard put into place
in patch 3.3.  If you have the gear to do it, go as protection or holy.  Some paladin pvp guide may not mention anything about this, but the random dungeons are great ways to get good pve gear, and some of the best pvp gear also with the triumph badges.

Why not run as retribution since this is my 80 paladin pvp spec?  You can run as retribution, but the wait times for the random dungeons may take up to 20 minutes.  As protection and holy, the queues are instant.  So you can get tanking/healing gear, and also get your retribution set for 80 paladin pvp.

Which brings us to the next spec, protection.  80 paladin pvp as protection works, but you have to be familiar with the class, and also have some great tanking gear.  With great tanking gear, and a tanking spec that allows you to grab Seal of Command from the retribution tree, protection paladins can generate high dps while staying alive for a very long time.  In the paladin pvp guide this is discussed into further detail regarding the perfect 80 paladin pvp spec, as well as what gear and gems you should pick up.

And now for holy.  If you prefer to be a healer, like to annoy everyone attempting to kill you, and live for what seems like forever then 80 paladin pvp as holy is your spec.  Plate Armor, incredible healing power, a bubble, decent sized health pool, all combining to make you one of the most annoying flag carriers in Warsong Gulch.  Not to mention a holy paladin can even beat most classes in a fight one on one.  There are a few different pvp specs, some going a little into protection for some survivability, and others going into retribution for a run speed increase and more critical chance.  The paladin pvp guide explains more on this topic.

Another viable option for holy, although it has been partially nerfed.  Spec into holy, and wear tanking gear.  With the survivability of the tanking gear, and the healing ability/damage of holy, 80 paladin pvp has never been so much fun.  While blizzard has been attempting to nerf this 80 paladin pvp spec, it is still fairly effective.
